Kitchenaid Mixer Ice
I wrote about a KitchenAid mixer a few days back?
My dad bought me one! It's the Big Beast, the kids call it, it's the commercial one...on sale for $400. It comes with a "rebate" of pasta thingy or ice cream maker--I made bread last night.......wow........I have it on an island type thing and I have to move it to something that won't shake! The bread smelled awesome. wish you guys had smell a vision. Thanks for the tips before, the main one being, it's easy to overmix!!!!!!!!! no question really, just felt like sharing my news to those who'd appreciate it. Some get excited about cars & clothes, we get a thrill from kitchen toys...don't even get me started on Calphalon.
if you overmix the dough just let it rest longer

Which is better? HELP!!!!?
Ok- so for my birthday, i really want a kitchenaid stand mixer. Everyone recommended the bowl lift version, but i REALLY want the pear or ice colored one but those only come when you get the tilt model. Is the tilt model still good? PLease help!
Holy crap girl. If somebody is willing to buy you ANY kitchenaid....GRAB IT AND RUNNNNNNN. ( I think the bowl-lifter is a royal pain in the ass, I don't see any benefit other than to make your life more difficult if you like that sort of thing.) That combined with the fact that you will resent a stupid red or black one just for being that colour and.... I think you know which way to go. Good luck and happy birthday.

Kitchenaid Mixer Ice Cream
I just got the ice cream maker attachment for my Kitchenaid Mixer?
does anyone have a good recipe for ice cream? I would like to make something with fruit in it (like strawberries, peaches, or cherrys).
I can't do the translations from metric and lots of people will give you their ice-cream recipes, but here are some flavourings they might not suggest:
Lavender - yes, garden variety lavender. Dean and Deluca do one and it's fifteen years ago and I still haven't forgotten the taste.
Drambuie liqueur (with or without porage oats).
Brown bread - this is unbelieveably delicious. Get the darkest brown bread you possibly can, and stick it in the blender. For every four ounces of bread, take two ounces of butter and slightly less of brown sugar. Fry in a heavy pan stirring all the time, or cook in a hot oven for a few minutes on a piece of baking foil but keep taking it out and annoying it. (I mean, stir it all up and the spread it out again). What you've now got is breadcrumbs covered in caramel. When they're cool, add them to the ice-cream before it freezes. Nobody will guess.

Difference in Kitchen Aid Mixer attachments?
Hello,
I'm looking to buy a 5qt kitchenaid mixer and have noticed that on the bed bath and beyond site the paddle and dough hook attachment look like they're made of metal. On all other sites and stores I find them to be a white ceramic type of product. Can other people verify this difference and does it make a difference what it's made of?
Yes, I have used both kinds but usually on the 5qt. you get the white ones. The metal ones are usually on the bigger mixers. I have not noticed any difference in using the two. They both do a very good job. Both types are metal but the white ones have some sort of coating on them. Don't worry it doesn't come off.

What is the difference between the different Kitchenaid stand mixer models?
I recently got a kitchenaid classic plus stand mixer (It is the cheapest one out on the market and is only available in white). I am happy with it so far, but I am wondering how this particular model will last in the long run. Does the wattage really make that much of a difference? Will my model last as long or as well as the more expensive or premium models?
For a stand mixer - wattage equals power.
Higher wattage motors will be able to mix stiffer batters and doughs. There is a regulator in the Kitchenades that keeps the beater moving at a constant speed no matter how stiff your batter is - this makes the motor work harder.
It would be pretty difficult to get a mixer motor to burn out with normal kitchen use - but I have heard of it happening in commercial kitchens.
